Lebanon To Start Drilling First Well By End Of 2019

BEIRUT, Lebanon, April 27 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanon’s Minister of Energy and Water, Nada Boustani, said that, his country will start to drill its first well, in maritime Block 4, by the end of 2019, an online independent newspaper reported.

“This is a very important step because, it will allow us to discover our oil and gas resources,” she was quoted as saying, by Elnashra.

Boustani’s remarks came, after her meeting with a delegation from France’s petroleum refining company, Total, over the specific location of the first well, which will be drilled about 30 km away from the shore.

In Feb, 2018, Lebanon signed its first offshore oil and gas exploration and production contracts, for two energy blocks, with a consortium of France’s Total, Italy’s Eni and Russia’s Novatek.– NNN-NNA
