Six Security Members Killed In Terror Attack In NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, May 24 (NNN-APP) – At least six security members were killed, when a group of terrorists stormed a private oil and gas exploitation plant, in Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police officers said, yesterday.

More than two dozen heavily armed terrorists, attacked the plant early yesterday morning, in Manji Khel area of Hangu, a district bordering Afghanistan, resulting in the death of four frontier constabulary members and two private security guards, district police officer, Asif Bahadur, said.

He said that, the situation was under control at the moment, as security forces have taken the area back from the terrorists, after over two hours of intense fighting.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of security forces, along with rescue teams, reached the spot. The security forces cordoned off the area and tightened security of oil and gas fields across the district.

Heavy damage was caused at the oil field, which is a joint venture between Pakistan and Hungary, according to local police.

A search operation was launched in the area to nab the miscreants, said police.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.– NNN-APP
