India Sounded Alert In Wake Of Cyclone Mocha

NEW DELHI, May 7 (NNN-PTI) – India Meteorological Department (IMD), yesterday sounded an alert, in the wake of a cyclonic circulation formed, and lay over the south-east Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood, forecasting heavy rainfall from next week, over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Cyclone Mocha, the first cyclonic storm of 2023, has put the states of Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh on alert, the IMD said.

The IMD said, sea condition is likely to remain rough today, and very rough from Tuesday onwards, over the south-east Bay of Bengal, advising fishermen, small ships, boats and trawlers, not to venture into the south-east Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of the Andaman Sea, from today onwards, and into the south-east and adjoining central Bay of Bengal from Tuesday onwards.– NNN-PTI
