Peru: Private investment might show positive performance starting in 3Q

LIMA, April 27 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Ministry of Economy and Finance  reported that private investment is projected to start growing from the third or fourth quarter of 2023.

It will be boosted by the recovery of the confidence of economic agents and the measures taken by the Peruvian Government.

“Between the third and fourth quarters of this year, private investment will start to show positive results favored by greater confidence, which is essential,” the sector’s head Alex Contreras said.

The Cabinet member explained that investment indicators are once again in the optimistic range, because there is confidence in a more stable economic environment, and that makes expansion plans come forward.

Likewise, Minister Contreras commented that the increase in rates by the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) has moderated and is being maintained for the second consecutive month.

All of this suggests better conditions for private investment. A growing economy also contributes,” he said at a forum on sustainable companies, organized by El Dorado Investments.

The minister commented that economic performance might be better in April due, among other factors, to the moderation of social unrest.

In this case, the contribution to GDP by the Con Punche Peru program was also highlighted, which has led to an improvement in business confidence and in public investment acceleration. — NNN-ANDINA
