LIMA, March 22 (NNN-ANDINA) — Electronic commerce sales worth around US$23 billion are expected for 2023, Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) Digital Transformation Center Leader Jaime Montenegro reported.

“For this 2023, we expect transactions via internet worth around US$23 billion, which would grow 16% compared to last year, when online sales close to US$20 billion were registered, according to a study by Americas Market Intelligence consulting group,” he indicated.

Montenegro explained that, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, online purchases have been accelerating considerably in Peru, which led to continued growth, allowing more buyers and sellers to get used to online transactions.

“Currently, there are more than 14 million Peruvians who buy online, easily accessing various products and services from anywhere in the country,” he indicated.

As part of the various efforts to contribute to the development of digital economy in Peru, the Lima Chamber of Commerce launched the first 2023 edition of Cyber Days.

From March 27 to 31, the most representative Peruvian e-commerce brands will showcase their most attractive promotions and real discounts via cyberdays.pe.

This is the 31st edition of the most important Peruvian campaign of online offers —including five days during which Peruvians will find the best offers available this season.

Besides, online businesses will have the most important opportunity to increase their sales and reactivate their economy, in this context of crisis faced by Peruvians.

According to the different studies carried out by the business guild in 2022, various relevant aspects about Peruvian online buyers stand out.

Regarding purchase frequency, it was observed that they buy weekly (18.90%), bi-weekly (20.40%), monthly (36.20%), bimonthly (14.50%), among others.

Concerning the monthly online purchase ticket, 37.30% have invested more than S/1,000 (over US$265); 25.80% spent between S/750 (about US$198) and S/1,000 (about US$265); 20.70% invested between S/500 (about US$132) and S/750 (about US$198); and 10.20% spent between S/250 (about US$66) and S/500 (about US$132).

“We observe here that more than 75% of Peruvian online buyers make online purchases at least once a month. We also highlight (the fact) that more than 37% of online buyers make online purchases that exceed S/1,000 (over US$265) per month, which shows that the habit of buying online is increasingly growing.

In addition, for this Cyber Days edition, online transactions are projected to exceed S/180 million (over US$47.63 million),” Montenegro specified. — NNN-ANDINA
