France joins the blockade against TikTok social network

PARIS, March 2 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — French government spokesman, Olivier Veran, said that no official government phone, nor those of central administration institutions, have the application of TikTok social network.

Following the announcement by the European Commission and the Europarliament to ban this social network on the work devices of their employees, citing data security problems, Veran responded by explaining that neither the phone ‘of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister or members of the Government’ have the aforementioned application installed.

He added that, in any case, ‘professional phones do not tolerate the installation of any social network type application’, and that among the main ministries ‘in particular Defense or Interior, it has already been assured that no social network type application such as TikTok or others can be installed on the professional phones of central level officials’, he added.

In addition, the government spokesman reported that, ‘pending the reports of the Cnil (National Commission for Information Technology and Freedoms) to make a more general statement’, other ministries and territorial administrations are considering the possibility of joining the TikTok blocking. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
