Bhutanese PM Wraps Up Official Visit To Bangladesh

DHAKA, Bangladesh, April 16 (NNN-BSS) – Bhutanese Prime Minister, Lotay Tshering, wrapped up a four-day official visit to Bangladesh.

Lotay Tshering arrived in Dhaka on Friday, to hold talks with the Bangladesh leadership, to boost ties between the two countries.

Bangladeshi Foreign Minister, AK Abdul Momen and State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Md Enamur Rahman, among other dignitaries, saw him off at the airport.

A host of bilateral deals between the two nations were signed.

The deals, which were enacted during a signing ceremony, in the presence of Bangladeshi Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina and her Bhutani counterpart, Lotay Tshering, in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, revolved around cooperation on inland waterways, health, agriculture, tourism and Public Administration Training Centres.

According to a joint statement that was issued on Sunday night, both sides agreed in principle, to work on allowing duty-free and quota-free access of a number of products to each other’s market for mutual interests.

The two prime ministers welcomed the ongoing discussions among Bangladesh, Bhutan and India, on the proposed trilateral cooperation in hydroelectric power.

The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation in other regional and international fora, namely SAARC, BIMSTEC and the UN, and noted the commonality of their views and positions, on all major issues and agreed to continue to work together for mutual benefit.– NNN-BSS
