Filipino killed in collision on Malaysia coastal road

LABUAN (Malaysia), Dec 8 (NNN-Bernama) — A 42-year-old Filipino died after the car he was driving was involved in a head-on collision with a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle at the Nagalang coastal road here Thursday.

Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director Ismaidi Ismail identified him as Rogelio Morta Jr Rogelio, a holder of IMM13, a social visit pass for Filipino refugees.

He said the driver of the 4WD vehicle, Nooratira Matrih, 29, who is 16 weeks’ pregnant, was injured in the 8.30 am accident and was admitted to the Labuan Nucleus Hospital.

“We received an emergency call at 8.52 am and deployed personnel from the Rancha-Rancha fire station to the scene,” he told Bernama when contacted.

He said both the victims were trapped in their vehicles.

“This is the first road accident on the coastal road since it was opened to the public on Feb 1 this year,” he said.
