Italy Pledges Continued Support, To Reduce Refugees’ Burden On Jordan

AMMAN, Jordan, April 10 (NNN-PETRA) – Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, on Tuesday said, his country is committed to continuing supporting Jordan, to overcome the consequences of the Syrian refugee crisis.

The Italian president made the remarks, during a visit to the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees, on the start of his visit to the kingdom, during which he will hold talks with King Abdullah II.

Mattarella voiced appreciation for Jordan’s efforts, to aid the refugees, while calling for increased international support to ease the pressure on Jordan.

Jordanian Minister of State for Investment Affairs, Muhannad Shehadeh, who accompanied the Italian president, commended the strategic ties between the two countries.

The minister also highlighted the burden on Jordan in several arenas, due to the influx of Syrian refugees.

The Italian president was briefed on the services offered to the refugees at the camp, one of the largest refugee camps for the Syrians, fleeing the civil war back home.– NNN-PETRA
