Hezbollah To Fight For Lebanon’s Maritime Rights Regardless Of Vienna Talks Results

BEIRUT, Aug 20 (NNN-NNA) – Hezbollah will insist on protecting its maritime rights, regardless of the results of the Vienna talks, said Hezbollah leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, yesterday.

“Some people believe that Hezbollah will stop its threats over the maritime border dispute with Israel, if a nuclear deal with Iran materialises, but this is not the case,” Nasrallah said, in a televised speech.

Nasrallah threatens “escalation,” if the U.S. energy envoy does not grant Lebanon its maritime rights.

“If the U.S. envoy gives Lebanon its right, we will be heading to peace,” he added.

Lebanese authorities are trying to reach a solution with Israel, to end a dispute over maritime borders, which has escalated after Israel, on Jun 5, sent a vessel to the Karish field, which Israel claims is within its economic zone, while Lebanon claims is in disputed waters.

U.S. Energy Envoy, Amos Hochstein, announced earlier this month that, he was optimistic about reaching a solution to the maritime dispute between Lebanon and Israel, following his visits to both countries.– NNN-NNA
