No Less Than 25 Parties Have Won MP Seats: Thai Election Commission

BANGKOK, Thailand, April 6 (NNN-TNA) – No less than 25 parties have won MP seats in the March 24 election, Thailand’s Election Commission (EC) said.

In a statement issued on Friday, the EC said that, no less than 25 parties have secured a total of 500 MP seats, following the nationwide election, including several parties which are believed to have won only one MP seat each.

The polling agency followed the constitution’s Article 91 and the organic law’s Article 128 pertaining to the election of MP’s, in order to verify a total of 150 MP’s on party-list basis, in addition to a total of 350 others on individual constituency basis, according to the EC.

However, the parties which have won MP seats in party-list mode will not be identified until after the EC has verified 95 percent of all the winning candidates as MP’s in individual constituency mode, the statement said.– NNN-TNA
