Iraqi PM Intends To Visit Saudi Arabia, Turkey To Boost Ties

BAGHDAD, Iraq, April 3 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, said, he intends to visit Saudi Arabia, Turkey and some other Gulf countries in the coming weeks, to boost ties with the regional countries.

“During the next two weeks, we will make an official visit to Saudi Arabia and discuss important issues,” Abdul Mahdi told a press conference, after a weekly cabinet meeting.

The prime minister said, he will discuss the issues of trade exchange, customs tariff and the development of relations between the two countries.

According to Abdul Mahdi, a high-level Saudi delegation of 90 people, including some ministers, is scheduled to visit Iraq today (Wednesday), to discuss common issues.

Relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia have improved, since Saudi Arabia reopened its embassy in the capital, Baghdad, in 2016, after 25 years of closure.

Abdul Mahdi did not specify the dates of his planned tours to Turkey and some other Gulf countries.– NNN-NINA
