Iraqi President Calls For Developing Bilateral Ties With UK

BAGHDAD, Iraq, April 3 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi President, Barham Salih, received a senior British official in Baghdad and called for developing bilateral relations.

Salih’s comments came, during his meeting with John Gordon Lorimer, senior adviser to the British Ministry of Defence for the Middle East.

Salih “highlighted the importance of promoting bilateral relations between the two countries at various levels, in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples.”

He also praised the effective role of Britain within the international coalition, in the fight against the Daesh militant group.

For his part, Lorimer renewed Britain’s support for the stability and prosperity of Iraq and expressed his country’s readiness to “effectively contribute to strengthening and building the training and armament capabilities of the Iraqi armed forces.”– NNN-NINA
