57 Killed In Iran’s Floods In Past Two Weeks

TEHRAN, Iran, April 3 (NNN-IRNA) – At least 57 people were killed, in the floods that hit most parts of Iran, over the past two weeks, Iran Emergency Organisation said, Tuesday.

Mojtaba Khaledi, spokesman of the organisation, told the media that, 478 others were also injured in the recent floods.

Heavy downpours and floods have caused massive destruction to Iran’s agricultural sector, infrastructures, as well as, the rural and urban residential areas, since March 19.

Dozens of villages and cities in western Iran are still surrounded by high water levels.

In Poldokhtar county of Lorestan Province, a number of villages have disappeared under the mud and sludge.– NNN-IRNA
