Voting opens in Australian general election

CANBERRA, May 21 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Voting opened in Australia’s general election this morning.

Polling booths across the country opened to millions of Australians at 8:00 a.m. local time, and will remain open until 6:00 p.m. local time, when vote counting will start.

It is mandatory for all Australians aged 18 and above to vote in the election.

According to the Australian Electoral Commission, more than 17 million people have enrolled to vote this year.– NNN-AGENCIES
