Malaysia logs 3,361 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (NNN-Bernama) — A total of 3,361 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Malaysia on Tuesday, with 3,331 cases or 99.11 per cent in category one and two.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the remaining 30 cases or 0.89 per cent were in category three, four and five, whereby 14 cases involved those who had not received the COVID-19 vaccination and not completed the vaccination.

Ten of the cases were those who have received both doses of the vaccine, but not the booster dose, while six cases have received the booster dose, he said in a statement Wednesday.

Categories one and two refer to COVID-19 patients with no or mild symptoms while category three is patients with pneumonia, category four needs oxygen assistance and category five requires respiratory assistance.

He said there were 60 cases involving those aged 60 and above, 17 cases who are comorbids and one case of pregnant woman.

With the additional new cases Tuesday, it brings the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 4,436,912, with a total of 4,339,521 recovery cases.
