Vietnam Reports 11,160 New COVID-19 Cases

HANOI, Apr 23 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam recorded 11,160 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, down by 869 from Thursday, according to the country’s Ministry of Health.

The new infections, which were recorded in 59 provinces and cities, were all domestically transmitted.

The Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, remained the pandemic hotspot with 980 new cases yesterday, followed by the northern provinces of Phu Tho with 761 and Bac Giang with 539.

The infections brought the total tally to 10,544,324 with 42,998 deaths. Nationwide, 9,079,265 COVID-19 patients, or 86 percent of the infections, have so far recovered.

Nearly 211.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in the country, including over 193.7 million shots on people aged 18 and above, said the ministry.– NNN-VNA
