Covid-19: Over 17 million vaccinated as 24 test positive in Kenya

NAIROBI, April 23 (NNN-KBC) — The Kenyan government has administered a total of 17,849,742 Covid-19 vaccines across the country the Ministry of Health has said.

Of these, 16,322,538 are doses administered to the adult population.

In a statement by the Ministry of Health, another 1,232,435 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 294,769 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is  8,836 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last  24 hours is 5,694.

Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was  30.4%. The Government is working towards vaccinating a  targeted population of 27,246,033.

24 people have tested positive for Covid-19, from a  sample size of 2,716 tested in the last 24 hours bringing total confirmed  positive cases to 323,688.

From the cases, 18 are Kenyans and 6 are foreigners with 15 being males while 9 females. The youngest is a 6- year-old child while the oldest is 80 years old.

20 patients have recovered from the disease, all of them from the Home Based and Isolation Care program.

This pushes the total recoveries to 317,902 of whom 264,876 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,026 are from  various health facilities countrywide.

Fortunately, no patient has succumbed to Covid-19 therefore the cumulative fatalities remain 5,649.

A total of 3 patients are currently admitted in various health  facilities countrywide, while 134 are under the Home-Based  Isolation and Care program.

No patient is in the Intensive Care  Unit (ICU) or on supplemental oxygen or in the general wards. No  patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU). — NNN-KBC
