JAKARTA, April 7 (NNN-Bernama) — Maybank Indonesia will hold the Maybank Marathon on Aug 28 with the starting line at the Bali Safari and Marine Park, Gianyar, Bali.

Themed as one-decade anniversary celebration, the 11th Maybank Marathon 2022 in Bali will feature Marathon (42.195-kilometre) category, Half-Marathon (21.1 km), and 10K races.

Maybank Indonesia’s president director, Taswin Zakaria said the bank aims to elevate the event to become the icon of world-class sports tourism in Indonesia, especially in Bali.

We hope that the upcoming Maybank Marathon 2022 can contribute to the economy, and encourage the recovery momentum of the Bali tourism industry,” he said in a statement Thursday.

He said World Athletics, formerly known as the International Association of Athletics Federations, acknowledged the event as an ‘Elite Label’ road race in 2020.

The Maybank Marathon has also become a qualifying event for the National Games (PON) and the first Boston Marathon qualifying race in Indonesia.

Registration for the Maybank Marathon 2022 will be available via www.maybank.co.id/Maybank-Marathon starting April 16.

Race Pack Collection Day, a separate event catered to runners, will take place on Aug 26-27 at Taman Bhagawan, Benoa, Bali.
