Roundup: Brunei Revises Cross-Border Air Travel Policies With Reactivated Green List

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Mar 31 (NNN-ANN) – The Brunei government announced its revised cross-border air travel policies yesterday, updating green-list countries and requirements for outbound and inbound air trips.

According to the COVID-19 Steering Committee, the previously announced Travel Green List is now reactivated with the updates and inclusion of several countries, namely Australia, Britain, Cambodia, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia (air travel only), New Zealand, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

Travels to and from the countries mentioned above are no longer limited to essential travel and are now open to non-essential travel.

The announcement said, foreign nationals travelling from countries under the Travel Green List are no longer required to obtain Entry Travel Pass approval, for inbound travel to Brunei.

However, foreign nationals from Travel Green List countries, who wish to work in or visit Brunei, are still required to apply for visas, such as employment visa and dependent visa, according to their different purposes, as per existing regulations.

Individuals entering the country via air travel are now allowed to undergo quarantine at home residences or hotel accommodation, with addresses registered online before departure.

All foreign nationals entering the country for less than 90 days are required to obtain travel insurance with coverage for COVID-19 treatment.

The announcement also said that, exit travels by air to all countries are no longer required to obtain approval from the government, which only applies to people receiving three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or receiving two doses within three months before departure.

The COVID-19 Steering Committee said, all the new guidelines will be implemented starting from Apr 1 (tomorrow). However, inbound and outbound travel through land or sea control posts are still required to adhere to current measures.

Brunei reported 745 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total tally to 133,726. All the newly recorded cases were local infections, said the health ministry.

As of Mar 29, 61.2 percent of Brunei’s some 420,000 population have received their third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, China’s Sinopharm are those administered in Brunei.

Currently, 5,548 active cases are being treated and monitored in Brunei, where 127,970 recoveries have been reported.– NNN-ANN
