Toyota Kirloskar Launches India’s First Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle

MUMBAI, Mar 17 (NNN-PTI) – Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd., yesterday launched India’s first green hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle, Toyota Mirai, the Indian government’s Press Information Bureau said in a statement.

This is a first-of-its-kind project in India, which aims to create a green hydrogen based ecosystem in the country, by creating awareness about the unique utility of green hydrogen and fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) technology, the statement said.

The vehicle, which comes equipped with a high-pressure hydrogen fuel tank and electric motor, was launched by India’s federal minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari.

The pilot project to evaluate the vehicle, which runs on hydrogen, has been conducted on Indian roads and climatic conditions, according to the statement.

Headquartered at Bidadi near Bengaluru, Toyota Kirloskar Motor is an Indian joint-venture between Japan’s Toyota Motor Corporation and India’s Kirloskar group, for manufacturing cars in India.– NNN-PTI
