14 killed in grisly road accident in Matuu, Machakos County

NAIROBI, March 28 (NNN-KBC) — At least 14 people were Wednesday morning killed after the bus they were traveling in rammed into a stationary truck in Matuu, Machakos County.  

The bus was heading to Nairobi from Mandera when the accident occurred.

Several other passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Matuu Level 4 hospital.

According to authorities in the area, the accident occurred at around 5 am and police are trying to establish the circumstances under which the bus rammed into a stationary truck.

The bodies were moved to Matuu Mediance mortuary.

Authorities warned drivers traveling at night to be cautious to avoid accidents.

“Drivers should be cautious and more so, those travelling at night to avoid causing avoidable accidents,” they said.

The accident coming barely 24 hours after 6 people were killed and scores injured after a matatu (minibus) collided head-on with a lorry in Masimba along Nairobi Mombasa Highway.

The accident involved a 14 seater matatu and a lorry which collided head-on. — NNN-KBC
