KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) — The UMW Group’s strong start to 2022 continued in February as both UMW Toyota Motor (“UMWT”) and UMW’s associate company, Perodua, registered improved automotive sales compared with February 2021. The Group delivered 23,853 units in February 2022, 10.1% higher than the 21,657 units sold in February 2021, as it continued to ramp-up production to fulfil its encouraging outstanding order book.
UMWT’s sales surged by 26.8% to 6,432 units in February 2022 compared with the 5,074 units registered a year ago. Toyota Vios and Hilux continue to be UMWT’s best-selling models in February. The newly-launched Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid registered encouraging sales and contributed to the Toyota Corolla Cross model moving up to become the third best-selling model for the month of February 2022. To refresh its model line-up, on 17 February 2022, UMWT unveiled the new Toyota Camry which boasts enhanced performance, improved safety and security that places it in the premium executive car segment.
