Luxembourg Court Rejects U.S. Appeal To Seize Iran’s Assets

TEHRAN, Iran, March 28 (NNN-IRNA) – A Luxembourg court, on Wednesday, rejected a U.S. appeal to seize Iran’s assets, as compensation for the victims of the Sept 11, 2001 attacks on the Twin Towers in New York city, Press TV reported.

“The rule on which the U.S. court had relied, to remove jurisdictional immunity, is not in accordance with public international law and cannot be applied in the context of the Luxembourg case,” the court said in a statement.

In 2008, a New York court claimed there was evidence of Iran’s involvement in the incident, by providing “material support and resources” to al-Qaeda operatives that carried out the attacks.

Iran has denied any links to al-Qaeda or involvement in the 9/11 attacks.– NNN-IRNA
