Jordan’s King Calls Off Visit To Romania Over Jerusalem Row

AMMAN, Jordan, March 26 (NNN-PETRA) – King Abdullah II of Jordan, cancelled a planned trip to Romania, after remarks by Romanian Prime Minister, Viorica Dancila, that her country’s embassy in Israel will be moved to Jerusalem.

The king decided to cancel his visit to Romania, which was scheduled to start Monday, in support of Jerusalem, according to a statement by the Royal Hashemite Court.

The Jordanian king’s visit to Romania was scheduled to cover bilateral meetings with Romanian president and other parliament officials. King Abdullah was also scheduled to participate in a round of “Aqaba Meetings” that Jordan and Romania were supposed to co-host.

On Sunday, Romanian prime minister said, at the annual conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in the U.S., that, Romania would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

U.S. President, Donald Trump, outraged the Arab and Islamic world and the EU, and triggered international concern after recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in Dec last year and after moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in May 2018.– NNN-PETRA
