Eight Injured In Traffic Accident In N. Afghanistan

PUL-E-KHUMRI, Afghanistan, Jan 16 (NNN-ANA) – Eight commuters were injured, following a traffic accident in Afghanistan’s northern province of Baghlan, a local source confirmed today.

“The incident occurred when two sedans collided head-on, along a highway in Dushi district, late last night. The affected people were transported to a provincial hospital, where two of the injured remained in critical condition,” Nazir Abedi, head of the provincial traffic police directorate, said.

The highway in the snow-hit mountainous region connects Afghanistan’s capital of Kabul to nine northern provinces.

Heavy rains and snow had been pounding most Afghan provinces for the last few weeks.

Road mishaps are frequent in the country, and occur mostly due to poor driving or badly maintained roads or vehicles.– NNN-ANA
