Singapore Reports 956 New COVID-19 Cases

SINGAPORE, Jan 16 (NNN-CNA) – Singapore reported 956 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday, bringing the total tally of the disease in the country to 290,986.

Of the new cases, 552 were in the community and 404 were imported cases, according to statistics, released by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

A total of 692 new Omicron variant cases were confirmed last week, of whom 541 were local and 151 were imported, the ministry said.

Some 181 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with nine cases requiring oxygen supplementation and 12 cases being in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Three more patients have died from complications due to the COVID-19 infection, bringing the death toll to 843.– NNN-CNA
