LONDON, Jan 15 (NNN-AGENCIES) — A son of the Queen of England, Prince Andrew, has been stripped off his military titles and charities over his ties to sexual abuse case.

The announcement comes a day after a judge ruled the sexual abuse civil lawsuit against the Queen’s son.

Prince Andrew is the third child and second son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

With this news, Prince Andrew will no longer use the style ‘His Royal Highness’ in any official capacity.

“With The Queen’s approval and agreement, the Duke of York’s military affiliations and Royal patronages have been returned to The Queen. The Duke of York will continue not to undertake any public duties and is defending this case as a private citizen,” the palace said in a statement.

It is also reported of the prince, who is ninth in the line of succession to the British throne, that “all of the Duke’s roles have been handed back to the Queen with immediate effect for redistribution to other members of the Royal Family. For clarity, they will not return to The Duke of York.”

Prince Andrew is facing a civil case in the US over allegations he sexually assaulted a woman, Virginia Giuffre, when she was 17.

The suit says that the prince abused the woman in 2001 but lawyers for the prince have said the complaint should be dismissed, citing a 2009 deal she signed with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew has however consistently denied the claims. — NNN-AGENCIES
