Jordan, France Vow To Continue Pushing For Political Solution In Syria

AMMAN, Jordan, March 20 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan and France vowed that, they will continue efforts to seek a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

At a meeting in Amman between Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s foreign minister, and Francois Sinimo, French President Emmanuel Macron’s personal representative in Syria, the two sides looked into efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis and mobilise support for Syrian refugees.

The meeting aimed to follow up the “positive outcome” of the Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region, in Brussels last week, which was organised by the European Union and the United Nations.

Safadi and Sinimo agreed to pursue coordination, to intensify their efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis. They also highlighted the importance of increasing international cooperation to combat terrorism.

Safadi told the French envoy about the burden that the Syrian refugees place on Jordan’s vital sectors.

According to official figures, Jordan is home to 1.3 million Syrian refugees, who fled their homes during the past eight years of civil war in Syria.– NNN-PETRA
