JUBA, Nov 2 (NNN-Xinhua) — At least five people on Tuesday were killed when a cargo plane crashed in the Maban area of Upper Nile state.

Kur Kuol, director-general of Juba International Airport, said that the ill-fated cargo plane that crashed at the eastern side of the Nile River was taking goods to Maban.

“It’s confirmed that there is a cargo plane that crashed a few minutes ago while taking off from Juba International Airport heading to Maban, the five crew members on board have been confirmed dead,” Kuol told journalists in Juba.

South Sudan has over the past years been experiencing plane accidents. In March 2020, a cargo plane crashed in the north-eastern Jonglei state, leaving 10 killed. — NNN-XINHUA
