Myanmar Reports Over 1,000 New COVID-19 Cases

YANGON, Oct 18 (NNN-MNA) – The number of COVID-19 infections in Myanmar has increased to 487,853 yesterday, after 1,002 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, according to a release from the Ministry of Health.

The release said, 30 new deaths were recorded, bringing the death toll to 18,359 in the country as of yesterday.

According to the ministry’s figures, a total of 440,259 patients have been discharged from hospitals, and over 4.62 million samples have been tested for COVID-19, so far.

Over 4.5 million people have been fully vaccinated nationwide, while over 6.64 million people have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines, as of Saturday, the release said.

Myanmar detected its first two COVID-19 cases on Mar 23, last year.– NNN-MNA
