Afghanistan’s New Administration To Resume Issuance Of Passports, ID Cards

KABUL, Oct 6 (NNN-ANA) – The new Afghan administration in Kabul, decided to resume the issuance of passports and national identification cards.

“Council of ministers of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, in its meeting on Monday, instructed the Ministry of Interior to resume the issuance of passport and Tazkira or national ID card,” spokesman of the establishment, Zabihullah Mujahid said, in its twitter account on Monday.

The issuance of passports and national ID cards had been halted since the power takeover by Taliban on Aug 15, where thousands of people knocking the door of the passport department in Kabul everyday, for their travels abroad.

In the meantime, local media yesterday quoted Alam Gul Haqani, the director of the passport department as saying that, about 25,000 passports would be issued in the first phase with about 6,000 passports each day.– NNN-ANA
