Canadian Climber Dies On Mt. Manaslu In Nepal

KATHMANDU, Sept 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Canadian climber, Brent Seal, died yesterday morning, in his attempt on Mt. Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest peak, located in western Nepal, the organiser of the expedition said.

“Seal, 37, died due to a sudden heart attack, when he was at the height of around 7,600m, while attempting to reach the top of the 8,163-metre-high mountain, yesterday morning,” Bodhraj Bhandari, chairperson of Snowy Horizon Treks and Expedition, told media.

It is the first casualty related to climbers in the fall season inside Nepal. According to Bhandari, Seal and his team were just moving from Camp 4 towards the top of Mt. Manaslu, when the tradegy happened.

Seal’s body has been brought to Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, and kept at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, said Bhandari.

Most mountaineers choose to climb Mt. Manaslu in the fall season, because of good weather.

According to Nepal’s Department of Tourism, as many as 171 climbers have received climbing permits to climb Mt. Manaslu, during the fall season.– NNN-AGENCIES
