Lebanon Busts Daesh Cell

BEIRUT, Sept 22 (NNN-NNA) – The Lebanese Army Directorate of Intelligence, arrested a number of people who formed a cell supporting the Daesh group, in the northern city of Tripoli, a statement by the Lebanese army reported yesterday.

The statement said that, members of the cell purchased weapons and ammunition, in order to carry out terror operations, taking advantage of the deteriorating situation in Lebanon.

It added that, the cell members also sought to recruit more to join them.

The cell started its activities last June, and participated in the assassination of the former member of the Lebanese army’s intelligence, Ahmed Murad, on Aug 22, 2021, in Tripoli.

The detainees have been referred to the judiciary for investigations and other legal procedures.– NNN-NNA
