Bangladesh’s Electricity Generation Capacity Exceeds 25,000 MW: PM

DHAKA, Sept 13 (NNN-BSS) – Bangladesh’s total installed electricity generation capacity has exceeded 25,000 megawatts (MW).

Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, made the announcement yesterday, while inaugurating five new plants, which had a total of 779-MW electricity generation capacity.

Hasina joined the opening ceremony virtually, from her official residence, Gonobhaban, in the capital Dhaka.

She said, her Awami League-led government has given utmost priority to the development of the power sector, considering its significance in the overall development of the country.

“Our electricity generation capacity has reached 25,235-MW, which was 4,942-MW in 2009,” she said.– NNN-BSS
