KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 (Bernama) — UMW Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary, UMW Innovation and R&D Centre Sdn. Bhd. (“UIRDC”) has entered into a Memorandum of Cooperation (“MoC”) with SIRIM Berhad, an agency under the purview of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, to form a strategic collaboration particularly in the areas of innovation and technology.
Capitalising on the MoC, the UMW Group aims to foster technological advancement through SIRIM’s Industrial Centre of Innovation and Technology. Among the identified key areas of potential collaboration are Smart Manufacturing, Nanotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology as well as Testing, Inspection & Certification. The essence of the strategic collaboration encompasses scientific industrial research, provision of technology transfer and consultancy services as well as the development of new Malaysian standards.
