Three killed, seven injured after house collapses in India’s Mumbai

MUMBAI, Jul 23 (NNN-PTI) – At least three persons were killed and seven others were injured, after a ground plus one structure of a house collapsed in North East suburb of Mumbai, this morning.

Some of the injured are in critical condition and have been admitted to a nearby hospital, local police officials said.

A team from the disaster management cell of BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, and a fire brigade, have reached the site for rescue operation.

The incident took place in Govandi area of Northeast Mumbai, following heavy rainfall in the Indian financial capital, for the past few days.

So far, in July, the city received 1,040 mm of rainfall and this is the fourth successive year where rains in this month, breached the 1,000 mm mark, while the normal rainfall for July as per past records stood at 827 mm, according to weather bureau officials.

Prior to this unfortunate incident today, Mumbai has so far witnessed 42 rain-related deaths this year.– NNN-PTI
