Another Body Of Indian Defence Personnel Recovered After Avalanche

NEW DELHI, India, March 10 (NNN-PTI) – The dead body of the fourth Indian Army personnel, out of the total six, who went missing in an avalanche incident, was recovered on Saturday, after 18 days from the avalanche site near Namgya region of the northern hilly state of Himachal Pradesh, confirmed official sources.

The soldier, whose body was recovered, was identified as Nitin Rana, hailing from Himachal Pradesh.

The avalanche struck the area on Feb 20, in which, six personnel belonging to the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, an infantry regiment of the Indian Army, went missing.

Even as the search operation is underway, two soldiers named Arjun Kumar and Videsh Chand, are still missing.

According to official sources, as many as 300 personnel of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Indian Army, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE), have been involved in the search operation, with the help of sniffer dogs and heavy machinery.– NNN-PTI
