TASHKENT, Jun 14 (NNN-XINHUA) – The World Bank has approved 100 million U.S. dollars in concessional credit, for two Uzbek cities, to improve urban infrastructure and municipal services, Uzbek media reported today.
The International Development Association under the World Bank Group, will provide the credit to the Uzbek government at a low interest rate and with a repayment period of 30 years, local media reported, citing a press release from the World Bank yesterday.
The project will help the two medium-sized cities in the southern Uzbek regions of Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya, improve their water supply and sanitation networks, upgrade electricity infrastructure, renovate public spaces, and conserve local culture.
This financing will expand the geographic scope of an ongoing development project, funded by the World Bank that was implemented in 2019, the bank said.– NNN-XINHUA
