ISLAMABAD, Jun 4 (NNN-APP) – Two policemen were killed in a firing by unknown gunmen, in the capital city of Pakistan, late last night, police sources said.
The incident occurred when the policemen, performing their duty at the main artery, connecting Islamabad and its sister city, Rawalpindi, stopped a suspicious motorbike for checking, but the riders opened fire at them rather than pulling over, the sources said.
The attackers fled the scene and a heavy contingent of police reached the site to investigate the matter. Meanwhile, a search operation was launched in the area to apprehend the attackers.
No group or individual has claimed the attack yet.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, has condemned the attack, saying that, the culprits will be punished for committing the heinous crime.– NNN-APP
