Soldier Killed In NW Pakistan’s Bomb Explosion

ISLAMABAD, Jun 3 (NNN-APP) – A soldier was killed in the explosion of an improvised explosive device, near a military check post in South Waziristan district, of Pakistan’s north-west Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, an army statement said last night.

The security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, to apprehend any terrorists found in the area, following the killing of the 26-year-old soldier, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations said, in the statement.

“Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism, and the sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the statement added.

Pak conducted a series of military operations against terrorist groups in South Waziristan that borders Afghanistan.

Although the area has mostly been pacified, remnants of terrorist groups still manage to launch attacks on security forces, sporadically.– NNN-APP
