Vietnam reports 20 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

HANOI, May 15 (NNN-VNA) – Vietnam reported 20 new COVID-19 cases from 6:00 p.m. local time yesterday to 6:00 a.m. today, all locally transmitted, raising the total confirmed cases in the country to 3,836, according to its Ministry of Health.

They were all detected in lockdown areas in northern and central localities, including 15 in northern Bac Giang province, two in northern Lang Son province and one in Vietnamese capital Hanoi, among others.

All of them are contacts of previously confirmed patients, or linked to the clusters of infections in the localities.

Nearly 970,000 people working on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19, mostly health workers, had been vaccinated by yesterday.

As of 6:00 a.m. local time today, Vietnam recorded a total of 2,377 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, including 807 detected, since the start of the latest outbreak in late April, according to the ministry.– NNN-VNA
