Modi Reminds Farmers Of Safety Precautions As COVID-19 Pandemic Spreading In India’s Villages

NEW DELHI, May 15 (NNN-PTI) – Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, yesterday said, the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading in villages and rural areas, and appealed to the farming community to take care of sanitation in their residential areas.

Speaking at a virtual event, held for disbursing financial support to small and marginal farmers, PM Modi said, the pandemic is spreading fast in rural villages.

He hoped that the farmers would protect themselves and families from COVID and ensure all necessary precautions are taken. “Wearing a mask properly and regularly is important,” he said.

Interacting with the farmers during the virtual event, Modi hoped the challenge of pandemic would be overcome with strength and dedication.

Modi released the eighth instalment of 2,000 Indian Rupees (around 27 U.S. dollars) to each of the over 95 million farmer families, having small agricultural units, at a virtual event through video-conferencing.

A total of around 190 billion Indian Rupees (around 2.58 billion U.S. dollars) was disbursed among the small and marginal farmers on the occasion.– NNN-PTI
