Kuwait Holds Third Children’s Marathon

KUWAIT, Mar 3 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait held, on Saturday, the third Children’s Marathon, with the aim to inspire and empower children of all fitness, health, and lifestyle.

The event was organised by a local Kuwaiti internet service provider, in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, in central Kuwait, with the participation of children aged 2 to 12.

Neeveen Tawfiq, one of the organisers, said that the marathon is a family day’s activity, to entertain and enrich children with knowledge and fitness.

“This activity is considered among the most important in promoting sports and well being among upcoming generations,” she said.

Each year, the race income is donated to some social institutes in Kuwait, to support their activities, and this year the Red Crescent and Dasman Institute of Kuwait were selected to support children with diabetes, she noted.

The race was participated by 800 children. They were divided as 2-4 years old, to run for 500 metres, 5-6 year for 750 metres, 7-9 years for 1,000 metres and 10-12 years for 1,250 metres.– NNN-KUNA
