Malaysia’s Natural Rubber Production Rises 17.1 Percent In Dec, 2020

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 (NNN-XINHUA) – Malaysia’s natural rubber production rose 17.1 percent to 49,825 tonnes in Dec, 2020, from 42,554 tonnes in the previous month, official data showed yesterday.

On a year-on-year basis, the natural rubber production decreased by 14.7 percent, Malaysian Statistics Department said, in a statement.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s natural rubber exports grew 8.9 percent month on month, to 61,547 tonnes in Dec, last year.

China remains as the main destination for Malaysia’s natural rubber exports, accounting for 53.8 percent of total exports in Dec, 2020.

Rubber gloves was the main export item, with export value increasing by 3.6 percent, month on month, to RM 4.6 billion (1.14 billion U.S. dollars) in Dec.

“The United States, China, and Germany were among the highest importers of gloves,” said the department.

The stocks of natural rubber in Dec last year, meanwhile, slipped 3.8 percent, month on month, to 249,555 tonnes.– NNN-XINHUA
