Iran Reports 5,760 New COVID-19 Cases, 1,194,963 In Total

TEHRAN, Dec 27 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Health Ministry reported 5,760 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, raising the total nationwide infections to 1,194,963.

The pandemic so far claimed 54,574 lives, up by 134 in the past 24 hours, said Sima Sadat Lari, spokeswoman for the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, during her daily briefing.

Of the newly infected, 732 were hospitalised, said Lari.

A total of 942,548 people have recovered from the disease and been discharged from hospitals, while 5,273 remain in intensive care units, she added.

According to the spokeswoman, 7,354,931 tests for the virus have been carried out in Iran as of Saturday.
