Afghanistan Exports Goods To World Via Chabahar

CHABAHAR, Afghanistan, Feb 26 (NNN-IRNA) – Afghanistan is one of the potential partners to use capacities of Chabahar port, and using the port’s facilities for exports is one of the major plans of the Afghan government, said the country’s deputy minister of transportation.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony, inaugurating strategic equipment of Chabahar, Emam Mohammad Verimaj, said that, his country will hopefully use the port for exports, as it utilises the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean.

“Afghan government has entered into talks with the World Bank for receiving finance for completion of the Khaf-Herat railway,” he said.

“Today, we witness exports of goods to India through Chabahar port,” he said, noting that, the cargo includes 750 tonnes of cereals and precious stones.

Afghanistan is terribly keen on using the port, he said, hoping that it would be used for exporting goods to south-eastern Asian states.– NNN-IRNA
