Indian, Vietnamese PMs Hold Virtual Summit

NEW DELHI, Dec 22 (NNN-PTI) – Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, held a virtual summit with his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, yesterday.

The two leaders reviewed ongoing bilateral cooperation initiatives, and discussed regional and global issues.

“A joint vision for peace, prosperity and people’s document was adopted during the summit, to guide future development of the India-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership.

Both leaders also welcomed the signing of a plan of action, for the period 2021-2023, to implement the joint vision, said a statement issued by Indian Prime Minister’s Office.

“The leaders affirmed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in all areas of engagement,” the statement said.

The two countries signed seven new agreements, on areas such as, defence, scientific research, nuclear and renewable energy, petrochemicals and other diverse subjects like cancer treatment.– NNN-PTI
