Algeria, Italy Ink MOU To Boost Political, Security Partnership

ALGIERS, Dec 6 (NNN-APS) – Algeria and Italy, yesterday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic dialogue, over bilateral partnership, political issues and comprehensive security.

The MoU was signed in Algiers by visiting Italian Foreign Minister, Luigi Di Maio, and his Algerian counterpart, Sabri Boukadoum.

Boukadoum told reporters that, relations between Algeria and Italy are “special and will develop further,” adding, the talks focused on “ways to consolidate bilateral relations and cooperation.”

The MoU aims at developing a “real bilateral partnership,” he said, as the two countries “share convergent views over a number of regional issues, in particular, Libya and Mali, and the problems affecting the Mediterranean region.”

Algeria was the top trading partner of Italy, in the MENA region in 2019, while Italy was Algeria’s third largest trading partner, according to the Italian minister.– NNN-APS
