Iran’s Top Nuclear Scientist Assassinated Near Capital

TEHRAN, Nov 28 (NNN-IRNA) – Iranian high-ranking nuclear physicist, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, was assassinated near the capital Tehran, yesterday, by “armed terrorists,” Iran’s Ministry of Defence announced.

Local media reported that Fakhri Zadeh, head of the defence ministry’s nuclear programme, was attacked in the afternoon, in Absard village, 60 km north-east of Tehran.

Eyewitnesses said, a blast occurred when the scientist’s vehicle was travelling on a street of the village, then a shooting took place, where several people were killed.

The scientist was severely injured and taken to a nearby hospital, but the medical team failed to revive him, the ministry added.– NNN-IRNA
